In 2015 Donald Trump, a Republican, announced his candidacy for President of the USA. Initially viewed as a complete outsider he stunned the world of politics by clinching the Republican presidential nomination and defeating the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton when he was elected the 45th president of the United States on November 8, 2016.

The Family of Donald Trump: Donald Trump has been married three times. His first wife was Czech born model Ivana Zelnickova took place in 1977 and together they have three children, Donald Jr, Eric and a daughter Ivanka. The marriage ended in 1991. He married Marla Maples in 1993 after the birth of their daughter, Tiffany but were divorced in 1997. His third wife is Slovenian born Melania Knauss with whom he has a son, Barron William Trump. Donald Trump has eight grandchildren, three by his daughter Ivanka and five by his son Don Jr.
