He grew up with an older sister Victoria, as well as seven younger siblings, Alice, Alfred, Helena, Louise, Arthur, Leopold and Beatrice who all survived childhood. He was the eldest of nine children all of whom married very well. He married Princess Alexandra of Denmark and they had seven children *** Education: King Edward VII received the very best education his parents could provide and in preparation for him to become a model constitutional monarch. King Edward VII Fact 9: Queen Victoria was known to have written to her daughter Victoria, that she blamed her son for her husbandís death. Having heard of Bertieís shocking behavior of spending inappropriate time with an actress, his father had immediately gone to see him to express his disappointment in his son and he had been unwell before the trip.

King Edward VII Fact 16: He became responsible for re-establishing the State Opening of Parliament, which his mother had relinquished.
King Edward VII Fact 17: With thanks to a few close and well advised friends, Edward was the first monarch to attain the throne with a fortune.
King Edward VII Fact 18: King Edward VII died on May 6th 1910. Having been a heavy smoker most of his life, he was a great suffer of bronchitis. Whilst on a trip to Biarritz in France, he collapsed. He returned to England on April 27th and the following week his wife Alexandra had also returned from a trip to Corfu when she had been visiting her brother. The following day, Edward suffered several heard attacks, but refused to take to his bed. At eleven thirty that night he became unconscious and was placed in his bed. Edward VII, King of England died a short while later. His body was laid to rest in St Georgeís Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Influence & Legacy: Holding the title of the Prince of Wales longer than any other heir apparent. Like his Mother, his era was named after him. He was a leader in fashion. He saw to the reforming of the Army Medical Services, reorganized the British Army and modernized the Army Medical Services. He was also very well known for his fashion sense.
