Lee Harvey Oswald Biography Summary: Lee Harvey Oswald (1939 - 1963) was famous for killing President John F. Kennedy. Lee Harvey Oswald would be described as an unstable character.

From a very disrupted early life, moving homes and schools far more frequently than is usual, he was perhaps a child of low learning capability and at one time was nearly removed from his mother’s care for fear of mental illness.

He joined the Marine Corp but again it time there was not without incident. He attempted to defect to the Soviet Union and although he spent some time there he would ultimately decide to return to the U.S. where he found it increasingly difficult to fit in with his beliefs profoundly in the camp of Marxism.

What actually prompted his last actions of assassinating the President of the United States will never be known but there are still unanswered questions surrounding this event.

After much too and froing he was allowed to stay but when a marriage proposal to a local girl he had developed feelings for was rejected it is thought this was the turning point for his desire to return to the U.S.

Lee Harvey Oswald Fact 21: On November 22nd 1963 Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated President John F. Kennedy from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository. He abandoned his rifle and left the building via the back staircase where police were already in the building but Oswald was identified as an employee and so allowed to pass and exited the building right out the front door just prior to the police locking the building down.

Lee Harvey Oswald Fact 22: A short distance from Oswald’s boarding house, while waiting for the arrival or a bus, a local police officer pulled his patrol car up next to Oswald which he questioned him, as his description matched that of the shooter, and as the officer approached Oswald on foot, he was shot four times. Oswald was identified later as the shooter.

He was immediately transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His body buried in the Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Burial Park in Fort Worth.
