Princess Diana was the daughter of John Spencer. She came from a noble family who had been closely associated with the Royals for many years. She became the Princess of Wales when she married Prince Charles.

Princess Diana was an inspirational lady who dedicated her time to looking after her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. She also devoted a great deal of her life to various charities.

She visited sick children and adults all over the world from those suffering from terminal illness such as AIDS and leprosy, to the homeless, drug addicts and elderly people.
 

Her death in 1996 left millions of homes across Great Britain and the rest of the world completely grief stricken. Members of the public placed flowers on the streets on London in memory of the Princess and millions tuned in to watch her funeral on television.

Princess Diana Fact 12: She accepted Prince Charles' marriage proposal on February 6, 1981. Her engagement ring was made by Garrard, the Crown jewellers. It was an 18-carat white gold ring consisting of 14 solitaire diamonds and 12 blue Ceylon sapphires.

Princess Diana Fact 13: Her first public appearance with Prince Charles was at a charity ball at Goldsmiths' Hall in March 1981.

Princess Diana Fact 14: She was 20 years old when she became the Princess of Wales. Her marriage to Prince Charles took place on July 29, 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral. Approximately 600,000 people lined the streets of London to celebrate the Royal wedding whilst 750,000,000 people across the world viewed the event on television. Her wedding dress had a 25 foot train and it was valued at £9000.

Princess Diana Fact 16: She had two sons with Prince Charles. Their first son, William Arthur Philip Louis, was born September 15, 1984 and the birth of their second son, Henry Charles Albert David, was born on June 21, 1982. The second son is known as Harry.

Princess Diana Fact 17: She was a devoted mother who provided her sons with experiences which might seem unusual for other royal children. She did things with them that any other mother might do with her children. She bought them video games and took them to McDonalds.

She said that she had loved Prince Charles but she felt let down by him following his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. After her divorce, she dated a heart surgeon called Hasnat Khan for approximately 2 years. She began a relationship with Dodi Fayed shortly afterwards. He was son of Mohamed Al-Fayed. She died on August 31, 1997 following a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris. Dodi Fayed also died, as well as their driver, Henri Paul. More than 32.1 million British people viewed her funeral on television.
