flamboyant affair that would become
synonymous with Dali making him
Salvador Dali Fact 17: Returning to their home in Europe in 1948 Dali spent the next thirty years painting in between trips to New York and Paris with Gala.

In 1968 for Gala, Dali purchased a
Castle in Pubol and over the ensuing
years she would often retreat there,
by herself, unless Dali had been
given express permission to join
her. His feelings of depression and
estrangement would lead to his
health beginning to decline.

Thereafter his declined even more,
he deliberately dehydrated himself
but did manage was more piece of
work, The Swallow’s Tail before he
too died on January 23rd 1989 of
heart failure in his home at
Figueres. His body was laid to rest
in a crypt underneath the Theatre
and Museum in his home Figueres.
